Job Opportunity

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a telemetry unit in San Antonio, TX. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients requiring telemetry monitoring. The successful candidate will demonstrate compassion, effective communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Shift Details

• Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM / 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend and some holidays

Unit Description

The telemetry unit focuses on effective patient care through:

• Utilization of communication boards
• Hourly rounding
• Bedside shift reports
• Implementation of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You)

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Texas RN License (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• 2+ years of hospital/specialty experience
• ACLS and BLS certifications
• Telemetry monitoring experience
• Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced clinical setting
• NIHSS certification required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of cardiac medications
• Proficiency in IV drip management, including medications such as insulin and heparin

Responsibilities

Typical procedures and responsibilities on the unit include:

• IV insertion and management
• Management of lines and drains
• Post-care management after cardiac catheterization, pacemaker placement or revision, and vascular surgeries
• Documentation using Meditech charting system

Patient Experience

Candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills and utilize de-escalation techniques when necessary to enhance the patient experience.

Dress Code

All staff are required to adhere to the following dress code:

• Scrub Color: Navy (top and pant), Navy or white scrub jacket
• Nails: Clean and healthy; maintain professional appearance
• Hair: Neat and clean, with no extreme styles or colors
• Facial Hair: Beards, mustaches, and sideburns should be clean and neatly trimmed
• Tattoos: Must be covered whenever possible; visible tattoos will be addressed individually
• Piercings: Visible piercings other than earrings are prohibited

Additional Information

All travelers are expected to adhere to floating policies as per unit requirements. Compliance with attendance policies and acknowledgement of unit guidelines is essential.
