Machinist

Machinist Requirements On-site | Machine Shop

• Proficient in supporting SolidWorks CAM on the machine
• Hands-on experience operating HAAS CNC machines (gantry or vertical mill preferred; GM-1 familiarity a plus)
• Comfortable with the full programming-to-cut cycle: CAM setup, graphics simulation, air run, and live troubleshooting at the machine
• Experience mentoring or training a junior programmer/machinist - this person will be working closely with our current employee who is actively learning CAM
• Ability to communicate clearly and patiently; tribal knowledge transfer is a core part of this role
• Experience cutting graphite or other brittle/abrasive materials - feeds, speeds, tooling selection, and dust management for graphite are meaningfully different from metal and we'd want someone who's been there
• Experience building out or standing up a machine shop - tooling procurement, workholding, organization, establishing workflows from scratch
• Familiarity with fixturing large flat stock (our parts come from boards)
