Physical TherapistThe Physical Therapist's primary responsibility is to perform physical evaluations and therapeutic treatments for physician-referred patients with disease or disability and provide direction to physical therapy assistants, students, and technicians to ensure quality treatment.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesEvaluates, plans, supervises, delegates, and administers physical therapy treatment plans to meet patient goalsModifies patient treatments to reflect changes in goals and objectives when neededAdministers treatment programs to patients including, but not limited to, therapeutic exercises, isokinetic testing and training, gait training, therapeutic application of physical agents such as heat, cold, electricity, ultrasound, massage; manual therapeutic techniques, and functional trainingPerforms appropriate, timely documentation of patient care in accordance with department policy and procedures including recording patient's reactions and progress during treatment and writing discharge summary when treatment is terminatedCommunicates with physicians or other health personnel when indicatedInstructs and provides technical direction to physical therapist assistants and technicians assisting in patient care activitiesParticipates in clinical studies and guidance of physical therapy studentsCounsels with patients and/or family as neededEstablishes home programs for patients and instructs patient and family in the performance of exercises as indicatedPerforms other related duties as requested by the Physical Therapy Director and Senior Physical TherapistsRequirementsCompletion of Physical Therapy program from an accredited schoolActive Physical Therapy license for the state of Tennessee/MississippiActive CPR CertificationPreferred:Experience treating patients with advanced spinal problemsKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and medical practice software; knowledge of data entry and coding softwareEffective communication, both oral and written, with the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situationsCan provide excellent customer service and manage difficult or emotional situationsAbility to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and directionExcellent organizational skills with attention to detailCan work with focused concentrationAbility to make frequent judgments and respond to routine problemsHigh level of confidentiality and discretionDesire to seek new learning experiences and share knowledge with othersAccepts challenging opportunities and responsibilitiesCan accept suggestions and recommendations
