Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) (Contract) - UNC Urgent Care

Join our growing UNC Urgent Care provider team! This is an employed position with UNC Rex and is a shift-based model. Our provider team staffs our 9 UNC Rex based UNC Urgent Care clinics. Our clinics are across Wake County, and we are open 7 days a week, 8am-8pm. We see ages 4 months of age and older. Our team includes RNs, CMAs, Rad Techs, MOAs, Physicians and APPs. We have on-site X‑Ray and point of care testing. Our clinics are walk‑in based with a reservation and wait time system. Summary An Advanced Practice Provider functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical – Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets pertinent diagnostic tests/results. Develops appropriate differential diagnoses and treatment plans, including prescribing/ordering of evidence‑based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines and privileging, and schedules appropriate follow‑up management. Conducts preventive health screening and maintains clear, comprehensive records of all patient care. Education – Provides professional education to clients, families, clinicians, staff, and students. Develops educational materials and participates in training programs. Attends educational programs as needed. Leadership – Provides instruction and precepting to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and/or students. Participates in community/network outreach programs and leads systems improvement initiatives. Professional – Interacts with patients and families in a respectful, courteous and timely manner. Collaborates with coworkers and other team members, responding quickly to meet customer needs and resolve problems. Quality/Research – Engages in continuous quality improvement, consults with management, leads interdisciplinary teams, and initiates protocol revisions to reflect evidence‑based changes in care management. Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA registration. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure successful patient care in a clinical setting. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
