Structural Engineer/ Engineer in Training (EIT)

Want to do more than sit behind a desk working on one small piece of a project?

Everstead is looking for a Structural Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) who wants

hands-on experience across the full residential engineering process—from structural design and

calculations to construction drawings and seeing those designs come to life in the field.

We are a small, established residential structural engineering and design firm serving builders,

contractors, and homeowners throughout the Kansas City area. Because of our size, our

engineers get exposure to a wide variety of projects and responsibilities and work directly

alongside experienced Professional Engineers.

For someone early in their engineering career, this is an opportunity to learn quickly, take on

meaningful responsibility, and develop practical engineering experience that can be difficult to

get at a larger firm.

This position is fully on-site, and we are not considering candidates who would need to relocate.

What You'll Do

No two days will look exactly the same. Depending on our project workload, you may:

• Assist Professional Engineers with structural analysis, calculations, and design for

residential projects

• Develop engineered construction drawings using Revit and AutoCAD

• Work on new homes, additions, remodels, structural modifications, and other residential

projects

• Review architectural plans and construction details to develop practical structural

solutions

• Perform residential construction inspections, including subgrade and soil conditions,

footings, foundation walls, framing, and other structural components

• See firsthand how structural designs are implemented in the field

• Troubleshoot construction conditions and work with engineers to develop solutions

• Communicate with builders, contractors, designers, and other professionals

• Help move projects from initial design through engineering and construction

What We're Looking For

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural

Engineering, or a related engineering field

• EIT certification or FE exam completed

• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit

• Familiarity with residential construction or structural design

We will also consider candidates with:

• An associate degree in engineering technology, drafting, construction management, or a

related technical field

• Relevant experience in structural drafting, residential design, construction inspections,

materials testing, or residential construction

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is:

• Curious and willing to learn

• Organized and dependable

• Comfortable balancing office and field work

• A strong communicator

• Able to work independently while also collaborating with a small team

• Interested in practical, hands-on structural engineering

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for local field inspections.

Compensation & Benefits: $50,000-$70,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
