Job Description
As a Manual Machinist, you will perform precision machining operations using a variety of manual machine tools and equipment. You will work with engine lathes and manual mills to produce, repair, and enhance mechanical components, ensuring accuracy, safety, and high-quality workmanship. This role involves close collaboration with other departments and hands-on work in a busy machine shop environment.
Responsibilities

• Perform precision milling operations, including drilling, tapping, and boring, using engine lathes and manual mills.
• Set up and operate manual lathes and manual mills to machine parts to exact specifications.
• Utilize dynamic balancing equipment to fine-tune and balance mechanical assemblies.
• Carry out metalizing (metal spraying) processes to repair and enhance components.
• Use advanced measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure accurate sizing of machined parts.
• Safely operate a variety of shop tools, including band saws, grinders, belt sanders, and related equipment.
• Handle heavy equipment and materials carefully while following established safety protocols.
• Collaborate with other departments to support both skilled machining tasks and general shop duties.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines in the machine shop.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in manual machining.
• Proficiency in operating manual lathes.
• Proficiency in operating manual mills.
• Hands-on experience with manual machining processes such as drilling, tapping, boring, and turning.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints to produce parts to specification.
• Skill in using measuring tools to ensure precise and accurate part dimensions.
• Ability to safely operate band saws, grinders, belt sanders, and similar shop equipment.
• Understanding of and adherence to safety protocols when handling heavy equipment and machinery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with dynamic balancing equipment for mechanical assemblies.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Work Environment
You will work in a non-climate-controlled machine shop equipped with overhead cranes and a variety of manual machining equipment. The environment is hands-on, industrial, and active, with regular use of tools such as engine lathes, manual mills, band saws, grinders, and belt sanders. Safety protocols are emphasized, especially when handling heavy equipment and materials, and you will be expected to follow shop guidelines and practices appropriate for a busy production setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
