Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of current acute care PCU hospital experience License: Active Registered Nurse license Certifications: BLS & ACLS Must-Have: Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Minimum 1-year current acute care PCU hospital experience. BLS & ACLS certifications. Description: This position involves working in a fast-paced and challenging cardiac unit that serves as a center for excellence in high acuity progressive/intermediate care. The unit comprises 30 beds and is staffed by registered nurses and patient care technicians. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 and can occasionally be 1:5. Equipment utilized on the unit includes tele monitors, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps, tracheostomy care, BIPAP, CPAP, heated high flow, chest tubes, Foley catheters, pacer wires, IV pumps, and SCD pumps. The electronic medical records system in use is Meditech. The unit cares for patients post-cardiac catheterization, post-thoracic surgery, and pre- and post-operative open-heart surgical patients. This role requires skills in managing drips such as heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, dobutamine, milrinone, and ketamine. Candidates with experience in chest tube management, removal of chest tubes, removal of pacer wires, performing 12 lead EKGs, and oxygen management will be prioritized. Successful candidates will demonstrate a great team player attitude, high energy, flexibility, adaptability, and value communication and collaboration.
