The duties described below are at the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence, and limited complexity. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Temporary duty travel (5% or less) away from the normal duty station may be required. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state issued Driver's License. Must possess or be able to obtain a Professional Architecture or Architectural Engineering License within 24 months of employment. Must possess or be able to obtain a Secretary of Interior (SOI) Historic Preservation Professional license withing 24 months of employment. OR Combination of Education and Experience College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by at least one of the following: (1) Related Curriculum - Degree in architectural engineering provided the completed course work in architectural engineering provided knowledge, skills, and abilities substantially equivalent to those provided in the courses specified in statement A above, or (2) Experience: 1 year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture. In the absence of any college courses, 5 years of such experience is required. This experience must have demonstrated that you have acquired a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture. In Addition To Meeting The Basic Requirement Above, To Qualify For This Position You Must Also Meet The Qualification Requirements Listed Below GS-11 level: Specialized Experience required One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience preparing architectural designs, plans, and/or design specifications; using design and drafting or related software to prepare/review designs; analyzing the impacts (i.e., benefits and liabilities) of facility projects; and providing support to engineers with design work and/or facilities inspections. GS 12 level: Specialized Experience required One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience in architecture; facilities planning and construction concepts; assuring compliance with objective standards and requirements; and, establishing architectural project requirements and priorities in developing strategies to create short or long-term goals. This position may be filled at either grade level advertised. If selected at the developmental GS-11 grade level, you may be promoted to the next grade level non-competitively after completion of one year of specialized experience at the next grade level and all statutory and regulatory requirements have been met, performance is satisfactory and promotion is recommended by the supervisor. Promotion to the next higher grade is not guaranteed and is contingent upon the above criteria.
