About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Experience with isolation precautions and PPE Experience in med/surg nursing Experience with nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management Experience with oxygen administration and peripheral line care/management Experience starting and maintaining IVs Familiarity with rapid response and code teams Description: The Registered Nurse will work three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM with a holiday rotation. Patient ratios will be 1:6. Weekend shifts will require four shifts every four weeks. Travelers may be required to float within the scope to meet facility needs. The unit provides care to patients over the age of 17 with various gastrointestinal diagnoses and complex nursing care needs. Nursing care includes support for bariatric and autologous islet cell program patients. The hospital is a Level I trauma center and a teaching facility. It offers 820 staffed beds and uses a modified modular nursing model to enhance teamwork. Travelers should be aware of potential emergency response assignments during hurricane season, which runs from June through November. All employees may be assigned to these teams during this time.
