Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Manager Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Manager oversees all inbound and outbound logistics activities within an aerospace manufacturing environment, ensuring full compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role safeguards product integrity and traceability from receipt through shipment, manages accurate material handling and documentation, and supports on-time delivery of aerospace components and assemblies. The position also leads a team of shipping and receiving professionals, drives continuous improvement, and collaborates closely with cross-functional departments to support operational goals.

Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001, ITAR/EAR, FAA, and applicable customer, contractual, and governmental requirements across all shipping and receiving activities.
• Maintain robust material traceability, lot control, serialization, and configuration management from initial receipt through final shipment.
• Align shipping and receiving processes with the internal Quality Management System and support adherence to quality procedures and standards.
• Ensure proper handling, segregation, and control of classified, controlled, and export-restricted materials in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
• Manage all inbound and outbound shipments, including raw materials, production hardware, tooling, repairables, and finished aerospace products.
• Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, engineering drawings, certificates of conformance, and inspection requirements to confirm accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure outbound shipments meet customer requirements for packaging, labeling, preservation, and documentation, including any special handling instructions.
• Oversee the preparation, review, and accuracy of shipping documentation such as packing lists, certificates of conformance, air waybills, commercial invoices, and export documentation.
• Coordinate domestic and international shipments with approved carriers and freight forwarders, optimizing routing and ensuring compliance with shipping regulations.
• Oversee inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliation activities, and corrective actions to address discrepancies.
• Ensure proper storage conditions, environmental controls, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention practices within the warehouse and storage areas.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve material discrepancies, nonconformances, and shortages in a timely manner.
• Supervise, coach, and train shipping and receiving personnel on regulatory compliance, safety, aerospace best practices, and standard operating procedures.
• Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators related to on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, damage rates, and compliance metrics.
• Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Program Management, and Production to support overall operational and program objectives.
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, risk reduction, process discipline, and regulatory compliance within shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, internal safety policies, and hazardous material handling requirements.
• Implement and maintain risk mitigation strategies related to material handling, export compliance, shipment integrity, and loss prevention.
• Promote a culture of process discipline, documentation accuracy, and accountability throughout the logistics and warehouse operations.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5+ years of shipping, receiving, or logistics experience in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards and their application in shipping and receiving operations.
• Strong understanding of ITAR/EAR regulations and aerospace documentation requirements related to export control and material traceability.
• Proven leadership experience managing warehouse, logistics, or shipping and receiving teams.
• Solid knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations and carrier requirements.
• Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving operations, including verification of incoming materials and preparation of outbound shipments.
• Experience with inventory control, cycle counting, and reconciliation to maintain high inventory accuracy.
• Ability to interpret and work with purchase orders, engineering drawings, certificates of conformance, and inspection documentation.
• High attention to detail with a strong compliance, documentation, and process-discipline mindset.
• Strong skills in logistics coordination, warehouse management, and on-time delivery performance.
• Effective cross-functional communication skills to collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, and Production.
• Demonstrated capability in regulatory compliance and risk management within an aerospace logistics context.
• Proficiency in using warehouse or logistics systems to manage shipments, inventory, and documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience supporting government or defense aerospace programs.
• Prior participation in audits conducted by customers, registrars, or regulatory bodies.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience establishing and monitoring KPIs related to logistics and warehouse performance.
• Background in aerospace material traceability and documentation best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and mentor team members and foster a high-performance culture.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to resolve material discrepancies and nonconformances.
• Ability to implement risk mitigation strategies related to export compliance, hazardous materials, and shipment integrity.

Work Environment

This role operates in an aerospace manufacturing and warehouse environment focused on precision assembly, quality control, and on-time deliveries. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work involves regular interaction with production areas, inventory storage locations, and shipping docks, using standard warehouse equipment, material handling tools, and logistics systems. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety standards, OSHA requirements, and proper handling of hazardous and export-controlled materials, with a strong culture of cleanliness, organization, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntington Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $38.00/hr.
