Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Chemo unit position requiring ONS/ONCC Chemo certification and a CT or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Chemo unit of a short term acute care hospital with 426 staffed beds
• Level II Trauma Center
• Care for oncology patients including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia/blood dyscrasias, lymphoma, and other cancer types
• Perform chemotherapy administration, IV push and continuous infusion, and management of oncologic emergencies
• Utilizes EPIC charting system
• Day shift schedule of 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Floating to other Med/Surg units required

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, NIHSS, and Chemo (ONS/ONCC) required
• OCN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required in specialty, though 1.5 years may be considered with Level I trauma or travel experience
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, port access and management, central line care, and PICC line care required
• Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, and sepsis
• 1 professional reference required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required with only religious/medical exemptions accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct chemotherapy administration and monitoring for oncology patients across a variety of cancer diagnoses
• Manage central lines, ports, and infusion pumps while recognizing and responding to abnormal lab values and treatment side effects
• Support patients and families with education related to their cancer treatment and care plan
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Facility does not accept local candidates within a 75 mile radius of the hospital
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• Previous staff must be gone for 2 years before returning as a traveler
