Intern - Research - Clinical Virology

Gilead Sciences seeks an intern to support clinical virology research focused on HIV antiviral drug development. The position involves laboratory work in a BSL-2 environment, data analysis, and documentation of research findings over 10–12 weeks during summer 2024.

Responsibilities

• Support HIV antiviral drug development research activities in clinical virology
• Conduct laboratory experiments in BSL-2 biosafety environment
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and document research findings
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to collaborative research efforts
• Present final research summary and conclusions via PowerPoint presentation

Requirements

• Currently enrolled full-time in Bachelor's, Master's, MBA, JD, or PhD program at accredited U.S. institution
• Minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA at application and hire
• Independent work authorization in United States; no sponsorship required
• Ability to work on-site at Foster City location for duration; hybrid arrangement required
• Laboratory experience with PCR, molecular cloning, DNA sequencing, and cell culture preferred
• Background in cellular and molecular biology, virology, or related discipline preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Compensation: $20.00–$55.00 hourly
