Assistant Program Manager, North American Disaster Relief

Assistant Program Manager, North American Disaster Relief Assistant Program Manager , based in Coppell, TX , supports and helps implement plans designed to further the ministry of the Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief program with specific responsibility for assisting with the recruitment and development of volunteer teams, training volunteers, recruiting churches, and remaining deployment‑ready. A day in the life of an Assistant Program Manager: At Samaritan's Purse, devotions, prayers, and team focus shape the day. Responsibilities and Opportunities: Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and serve as an effective witness. Assist the Program Manager with all aspects of the response; focus on homeowners, Site Leadership team, and volunteers; provide spiritual and physical support. Implement and conduct volunteer training plans and safety briefings. Foster relationships with churches, government agencies, and other relief organizations; recruit churches and local leaders. Monitor disaster activity across the US and weather. Maintain accurate listings and placement of disaster relief field inventory; oversee financial transactions, submit activity reports, and lead staff meetings. Represent the ministry at conferences and speaking engagements. Follow policies and procedures as set forth in the Policy Manual. Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, donors, and volunteers. Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, volunteers, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the community. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university and two to three years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience. Ability to obtain a Class A restricted driver’s license and a valid Department of Transportation Medical Card. Working knowledge of general construction and general chainsaw use. General knowledge of Excel and Word and ability to learn in‑house specialized computer applications. Highly effective written and public speaking communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure in difficult situations with limited resources. Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions. Ability to build and maintain an effective team. Ability to do the work asked of volunteers. Ability to use data and statistics to determine volunteer needs, deployment length, and forecasting completion dates. 12 credit hours of college‑level Biblical Studies (required); completion can be arranged upon hire if not already completed. Type: Full‑Time Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required) Travel Expectations: 182–237 days per year domestic travel; away from home for extended periods of time to cover disasters.
