About the Role The dedicated Data Engineer plays a uniquely high-touch, high-trust role at the center of a strategically critical enterprise data product with deep integration into Front Office, Portfolio Management, Trading, and Risk workflows. This role sits alongside the core Data Engineering organization but is differentiated by its embedded ownership model. You will serve as the primary technical steward and face of engineering for a highly visible data product, engaging directly and frequently with senior business stakeholders. Success in this role requires exceptional engineering judgment, strong business fluency, and the ability to translate complex technical constraints into clear, actionable decisions. While the underlying technology stack mirrors the broader data platform (Python/Java, Azure, Snowflake, APIs, curated semantic layers), the emphasis here is on precision, speed, reliability, and high-touch service delivery. What You’ll Do Embedded Product Ownership Act as the primary technical owner for a mission-critical enterprise data product supporting front office and investment decision-making. Build deep trust with senior stakeholders through consistent delivery, transparency, and responsiveness. Translate evolving business workflows and expectations into well-scoped, executable engineering plans. Design, build, and enhance scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines, including support for near real-time data where required. Develop and optimize multi-layered data models (raw, refined, curated) and semantic datasets that power analytics, reporting, and applications. Deliver data to downstream consumers via APIs and services, ensuring accuracy, performance, and reliability. Rapidly diagnose production issues, resolve data quality problems, and implement iterative improvements. Technical Leadership & Communication Lead detailed technical discussions with senior business partners, clearly articulating tradeoffs, constraints, and delivery timelines. Partner with platform and data engineering teams to align embedded product needs with broader architectural standards. Apply strong software engineering practices including testing, code review, documentation, and operational ownership. Required Skills & Experience 10+ years of professional software or data engineering experience, ideally within financial services or capital markets. Senior-level experience owning production-grade data products end to end. Strong programming skills in Python and/or Java. Deep understanding of modern data architecture patterns across ingestion, transformation, storage, semantic layers, and consumption. Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure) and Snowflake. Proven ability to design performant data models and optimize pipelines at scale. Exceptional communication skills, with experience engaging directly with senior business stakeholders. Comfort operating in high-expectation, fast-moving environments with strong ownership and accountability. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting Front Office, Portfolio Management, Trading, or Risk use cases. Exposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with event-driven or streaming data architectures. Familiarity with asset management, private markets, or investment data domains. Experience supporting analytics engineering or curated semantic layers for BI tools. The base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $200,000 Choice of medical, dental, vision insurance.
