Systems Engineer - Engines

Responsibilities Specify, give input on design, validate, and bring new products to market. Specify precise new product functional requirements; test and integrate a variety of moderately complex components to produce final designs; evaluate the design's overall effectiveness, cost (including cost/benefit analysis), reliability (risk analysis), and safety. Work with multiple engineering groups to design, develop, execute, and evaluate overall system fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans for a variety of moderately complex products and/or components. Collaborate with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize moderately complex designs for manufacturability. Give input into CAD or CAE systems modeling for new designs. Support product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs). Act as a resource to mentor and teach less experienced engineers. Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline. 7+ years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy on multiple projects. Engine design/development experience with a focus on application engineering. Experience in engine integration in an application. Ability to work cross-functionally to ensure all aspects of engine requirements are met. Technical skills including knowledge of fuel, control, intake, cooling, and exhaust systems. Demonstrated written communication and presentation skills. Ability to translate technical information to all audiences. Experience applying engineering knowledge and experience to improve products, services and processes. Experience with machine design.
