Nuclear Medicine TechnologistCity/State: White Plains, New YorkDepartment: Ancillary Nuclear MedicineBargaining Unit: 1199Work Shift: DayWork Days: Tues-SatScheduled Hours: 8 AM-6 PMHours Per Pay Period: 75Pay Rate/Range: $0.00 - $0.00For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.Job Summary The Responsibilities of this nuclear medicine technologist include an empathetic and instructional approach to patient care, the preparation, calibration and administration of radiopharmaceuticals and pharmaceuticals (under the direction of an authorized user), the performance of quality control procedures and the operation of imaging, laboratory and computer instrumentation. Qualified technologists can perform CT functions in conjunction with SPECT/CT exams. Essential FunctionsPerform quality nuclear medicine imaging procedures, which can include SPECT/CT, on patients in order to provide best patient care possible. * Exams are judged either acceptable or unacceptable in quality by observation of nuclear medicine physician trained to interpret procedure.Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures on a timely manner in order to decrease length of stay and maintain satisfied outpatients. * Each procedure has worked times established by national standards and verified by physicians and supervisors with approximate camera utilization.Perform quality control procedures on all instrumentation. * Must meet NEMA standards and specific linearity, sensitivity, resolution and SPECT/CT specification established by equipment vendors.Provide proper radiopharmaceuticals and prescribed dose for patient examinations. * Zero error tolerance.Handled, utilize and dispose of radioactive materials. * All personnel and work areas are monitored on a daily basis and radiation readings must comply with standards established.Participate in continuing education. * Attendance at lectures and meetings are maintained must meet standards of CNMT and ARRT.QualificationsAS RequiredLess than 1 year Education from formal education program(s) for Nuclear Medicine Technology, and as applicable CT, by the Joint Review Committee of Educational Programs to qualify as Nuclear Medicine Tech. RequiredPatient Care: Requires the exercise of judgment to assess and responds to patient's needs prior to, during and after visits in the Nuclear Medicine Division. Determine which patients should receive immediate care in the absence of the supervisorQuality Control: Requires the evaluation and maintenance of quality control program for instrumentation to ensure its credibility and reliability.Administrative Procedures: Requires the exercise of judgment to schedule patients in a timely arranged manner. Uses judgment to assign work schedules to technologists.Nuclear Medicine gamma cameras with and without SPECT/CT; data processing computers; doses calibrators; well counters; EKG machine, thyroid probe; survey meters; film processor; film copiers; lung ventilation equipment; Hospital computer systems applicable to job functions.Meets American College of Radiology requirements/standards to perform Nuclear Medicine exams. Required andCurrent CNMT and/or ARRT certification and/or New York State Department of Health License as a Radiological Technologist. RequiredNew York State Department of Health License Radiological Technologist with at least a limited practice of Nuclear Medicine and can include CT practice to perform SPECT/CT exams.
