Financial Aid Counselor

Position Title Student Services Specialist – Financial Aid Counselor Overview In the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Counselor administers all financial aid programs, ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional rules, and provides counseling to students, prospective students, and families regarding financial eligibility. Responsibilities Administer all financial aid programs exceeding $150 million in funds. Receive and process aid applications from approximately 25,000 students annually, including admitted and prospective students. Monitor records and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and NCAA athletics rules. Provide federal, state, and donor reports; deliver general financial aid advising and counseling. Coordinate with the national financial aid processing and delivery system for admission decision notifications and orientation/billing, with peak workload during March, April, June, July, and the first two weeks of each semester. Address crisis management situations and maintain professional communication with students and families. Qualifications & Skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid requirements. Experience with crisis management. Proficiency in Banner (or other ERP) and Department of Education systems. Experience with Image Now/Perceptive Content/Softdocs. Education & Experience Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience from an accredited institution. Certifications No required certifications or licensure.
