Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Des Moines, IA, requiring 15+ months of ED experience and an active TNCC certification.

Details

• Work in a 36-bed Emergency Department treating all patient types, including adults
• Maintains a 4:1 patient ratio
• Manages sedation, vasoactive, vasopressor, heparin, insulin, pain control, and antiarrhythmic drips
• Uses Epic EMR
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Required to work every 3rd weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float across multiple campus locations
• Navy blue solid-color scrubs required

Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or ARC) required
• Active TNCC certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred, may be obtained during onboarding
• Minimum 36 months of current Emergency Department/Emergency Room experience required
• Minimum 15 months of emergency medicine experience required
• Experience with sedation and vasoactive drips required
• Experience reading telemetry strips required
• Proficiency with antiarrhythmics, heparin, insulin, and pain control medications required
• Recent Level I trauma center experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Recent travel nursing experience required
• Valid driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care to a diverse adult patient population, managing complex drips and telemetry monitoring
• Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
• One professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred
• Local candidates may be subject to a radius rule that reduces the standard bill rate
• Candidates who were previously employed by the facility's health system as FTE or PRN staff are ineligible for this travel position in another market
