Case Manager - Psychology

University of Miami’s College of Arts and Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a full‑time Case Manager in Coral Gables to serve at the University of Miami‑NovaSoutheast University Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (CARD). CARD is one of seven state‑funded Florida centers dedicated to optimizing the potential of people affected by autism spectrum disorders, dual sensory impairments, or other disabling conditions. CARD serves over 12,000 constituents across Broward, Miami‑Dade and Monroe counties, and operates five sites funded by the Florida Legislature and supplemental private support. About the Center CARD provides free services including home‑ and clinic‑based individual client and family direct assistance, technical assistance and consultation to early intervention, school, employment, residential and other therapeutic community programs, parent and professional training, and public education and awareness. CARD was recognized as the National Autism Program of the Year in 1999 by the Autism Society of America. Core Responsibilities Integrate social service functions into client care. Help clients understand their conditions and possible therapeutic treatments. Act as advocate between service recipients and allied agencies. Design plans for constituents and family members covering educational, therapeutic, and recreational goals; promote family training and support. Collaborate with other professionals to evaluate patients’ neuro‑developmental condition and client needs. Identify environmental impediments to client progress through interviews and record reviews. Monitor, evaluate, and record client outcomes. Department‑Specific Responsibilities Provide direct individual client and family assistance to CARD constituents, including comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and overall evaluation of employment‑related needs. Maintain an active caseload of several hundred constituents, providing support services at schools, homes and community settings; facilitate case coordination and information sharing with other providers as permitted by law. Offer expert consultation and technical assistance to local educational, therapeutic, employment, and residential programs serving individuals with autism and related disabilities. Develop and conduct specialized training, workshops, seminars and conferences for constituents, families and professionals. Review diagnostic and other medical and social service reports to determine CARD eligibility; facilitate linkages to agency services and monitor client access and utilization. Write and maintain case reports, electronic client records and professional correspondence in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. Participate in public education and awareness activities, including community‑based speaking engagements, health and resource fairs, and special community events. Plan and coordinate regional teacher training workshops and/or the CARD/DOE Partnership Program. Administer social, support and activity groups for constituents and their families, focusing on skill enhancement and knowledge building. Attend case conferences, staff meetings and quarterly regional full staff meetings; collaborate with supervisors and other case managers. Maintain a network of appropriate referrals and make independent referrals as part of regular duties. Maintain contact data, case notes, training summaries, evaluations and other records following statewide CARD uniform reporting guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Social Services. Note: This list of duties is not exhaustive and may be expanded to include other responsibilities as needed. Core Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, Behavior Analysis, Social Work or a related field. Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience required. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
