Position Overview

We are seeking a Low Voltage Estimator to support continued growth across commercial low-voltage and technology infrastructure projects throughout the Tampa Bay area.

This position will have a strong focus on fiber optic and structured cabling , including both inside and outside plant (OSP) applications. The Estimator will also support projects involving access control, CCTV/video surveillance, security, and intrusion systems.

This individual will work closely with project management and leadership to review plans and specifications, perform takeoffs, develop labor and material estimates, obtain vendor pricing, and prepare accurate, competitive proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial low-voltage construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from blueprints, drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Estimate fiber optic infrastructure , including backbone, horizontal, indoor, and outdoor fiber applications.
• Estimate structured cabling systems , including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, single-mode and multimode fiber.
• Estimate outside plant (OSP) cabling , including underground pathways, conduit, handholes, aerial pathways, and exterior fiber runs.
• Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Build accurate bills of materials (BOMs) based on project scope and specifications.
• Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Estimate pathways and infrastructure, including conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, racks, cabinets, and related equipment.
• Support estimates involving access control, CCTV/video surveillance, intrusion detection, and integrated security systems
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, project risks, and potential change-order opportunities.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and jobsite walks as needed.
• Prepare bid packages, proposals, and scope documentation.
• Partner with Project Managers to ensure a smooth handoff from estimating through project execution.
• Maintain historical pricing, labor-production rates, and estimating data to improve future bid accuracy.

Ideal Background

• 3+ years of estimating, project management, or field experience within low voltage, telecommunications, or electrical construction
• Strong knowledge of fiber optic infrastructure and structured cabling
• Experience with inside plant and outside plant (OSP) cabling and network infrastructure
• Understanding of access control, CCTV, security, and intrusion systems
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, riser diagrams, and low-voltage plans.
• Experience performing material takeoffs and developing labor estimates.
• Knowledge of Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, single-mode, and multimode fiber.
• Familiarity with fiber termination, splicing, and testing requirements is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction labor, materials, pathways, and installation methods.
• Experience with estimating/takeoff software preferred.
• BICSI or related industry certifications are a plus.
