Med/Surg Registered Nurse Full Time Position

Schedule

This position involves a variable schedule of 3x12s day/night shifts as needed by the client, including every other weekend, holidays, and 2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The RN develops specialized skills in caring for patients admitted for medical conditions and provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations. The RN is accountable for patient and family education, assisting in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.

Responsibilities

• Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
• Assesses patient/family needs through active listening and analysis of data.
• Creates individualized, culturally relevant plans of care in collaboration with healthcare teams.
• Promotes and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
• Motivates and educates patients/families regarding ongoing care and healing at home.
• Evaluates quality and effectiveness of nursing practices, initiating changes as needed.
• Develops trusting relationships with patients and families, creating a Healing Environment.
• Performs medication administration and other interventions as appropriate.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure required.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS.
• One year of experience in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse is required.
