Network Engineer

Junior Network EngineerA client of Insight Global is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support Virginia State University's campus-wide networking environment in Petersburg, VA. This engineer will work in a mixed Juniper (85%) / Cisco infrastructure and will be heavily involved in hands-on troubleshooting, cabling, switching, routing, and wireless support. The target pay rate for this position is between $30-$39/hr depending on experience.This role requires someone who is motivated to learn, comfortable working across campus buildings, and ready to support end-to-end network operations including cabling, device testing, WiFi support, and platform troubleshooting. This is a highly collaborative, physical-presence environment where engineers gain deep institutional knowledge and support a wide range of tasks.Job Responsibilities:Troubleshoot issues across Layer 1–7Perform cabling, testing, and device support across campusSupport Juniper and Cisco hardware during ongoing migrationUpgrade and troubleshoot Meraki access pointsHandle daily operations, ticket resolution, and walk-up requestsNavigate campus buildings to provide onsite support and build institutional knowledgeWork closely within a small, collaborative networking team
