Working in close partnership with the Medical Director, the Associate Medical Director will provide senior clinical leadership and oversight to support exceptional clinical performance, high-quality patient care, and the continued advancement of the PCICU.Key responsibilities include oversight of clinical practice, physician mentorship, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This role encompasses 0.8 FTE clinical responsibilities and 0.2 FTE administrative responsibilities, offering an opportunity to combine clinical excellence with meaningful programmatic leadership.Working collaboratively with the Medical Director and the broader multidisciplinary team, the Associate Medical Director will help strengthen care delivery, advance quality and safety initiatives, and support educational and scholarly activities within the PCICU. For candidates who have completed training abroad, equivalent training and qualifications and ECFMG certification are requiredLicensure: Current, unrestricted license (or license eligibility) to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia at the time of hirePayer Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enroll as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payorMedical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required servicesPreferred Qualifications:Strong interest in clinical research and medical education is highly desirable, with opportunities for faculty appointments at the University of Virginia School of Medicine’s regional campus
