Job Description

This role focuses on performing precise mechanical and dimensional inspections for fiber optic connectors and cable harnesses used in aerospace equipment. The Inspector ensures that parts and sub-assemblies meet strict customer specifications and engineering requirements by using precision measuring tools and interpreting technical documentation. This is a first-shift position in a clean aerospace manufacturing environment, offering consistent hours and the opportunity to contribute directly to product quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspection of parts and sub-assemblies to verify conformance to engineering and customer specifications.
• Work with tight tolerances of +/- 0.005 inches and smaller, ensuring high levels of accuracy and consistency.
• Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, customer specifications, planning documents, and other requirements to determine the appropriate inspection process.
• Inspect parts before and after processing using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Utilize pin gauges and thread gauges to verify critical dimensions and thread quality.
• Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, irregularities, or nonconformances in parts and assemblies.
• Record inspection results clearly and accurately on the appropriate forms and documentation.
• Input inspection data into computer systems in a format that supports decisions regarding the final disposition of discrepant parts.
• Support quality control and quality assurance activities by following established inspection procedures and standards.
• Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve inspection-related issues and maintain consistent product quality.
• Adhere to all aerospace manufacturing and ITAR-related requirements while performing inspection tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle measuring equipment with care to ensure reliable results.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of quality or inspection experience within aerospace or mechanical industries.
• Hands-on experience performing dimensional inspections in a machine shop or job shop setting.
• Proficiency using micrometers and calipers for precision measurement.
• Experience working with thread gauges and pin gauges to verify threads and small features.
• Ability to work with tight tolerances of +/- 0.005 inches or less.
• Strong blueprint and engineering drawing reading skills, including the ability to interpret tolerances and specifications.
• Experience in inspection, quality control, quality assurance, and quality inspection processes.
• Ability to perform detailed visual inspections to identify defects or nonconforming conditions.
• Comfort working with mechanical and aluminum machine parts in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic computer skills for entering inspection data and completing electronic documentation.
• Ability to work a consistent first-shift schedule with overtime as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience inspecting aluminum machine parts is preferred.
• Prior job shop experience is required and highly valued.
• Ability to communicate effectively in more than one language is an advantage.
• Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing standards and ITAR requirements is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection work.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures and quality standards.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean aerospace manufacturing facility with more than 150 employees on site. Work is performed in an ITAR-regulated environment with a focus on precision and quality. The position operates on a first-shift schedule: Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (10-hour days) and Saturday from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM, for a total of 56 hours per week. The environment involves working around fiber optic connectors, cable harnesses, and mechanical parts using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment. Closed-toe shoes are required, though steel-toe footwear is not necessary. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and adherence to established manufacturing and quality procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Anaheim, CA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
