Vehicle Technician - Emergency Services

Hourly Pay (Based on Experience & Certifications)

• Emergency Vehicle Technician I: $27.92 – $41.72/hour
• Emergency Vehicle Technician III: $31.02 – $47.15/hour

$5,000 Sign-On Bonus Structure

Candidates Hired WITH a Valid CDL

• 50% paid after 6 months of continuous employment
• 50% paid after 1 year of continuous employment

Candidates Hired WITHOUT a CDL

• If CDL is obtained within the first 6 months:
  • 50% paid after 6 months
  • 50% paid after 1 year
  
  
  
• If CDL is required and obtained by the end of year one:
  • 100% paid upon completion of 1 year
  
  
  

Bonus payments are contingent upon continued employment and meeting all position requirements.

Retirement

Schedule:

• Monday–Friday, standard business hours
• Evenings/weekends as needed during emergencies

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, inspect, repair, and maintain fire apparatus and emergency vehicles
• Perform preventative maintenance per manufacturer and City standards
• Repair engines, drivetrains, HVAC, brakes, hydraulics, electrical and computer systems
• Perform welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications
• Conduct road tests and safety inspections
• Complete service documentation accurately
• Respond to road service calls within Boca Raton and surrounding cities
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop areas

Minimum Qualifications

Emergency Vehicle Technician I

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2+ years repairing automotive or fire-related equipment
• ASE Certification in 2 or more :
  
  • T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7
  
  
  
• Florida Class B CDL (or ability to obtain within 1 year)
• No more than 6 points in a 3-year driving record

Emergency Vehicle Technician III

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3+ years repairing automotive or fire-related equipment
• ASE Certification in 2 or more categories listed above
• Valid Florida Class B CDL
• EVTCC Certification in 3 or more :
  
  • F1–F6 (Fire Apparatus, Pumps, Aerials, Electrical, Transmissions)
  
  
  
  
  

Knowledge of:

• Automotive and heavy vehicle repair methods and tools
• Diesel and gasoline engines
• Fire pumps, aerial systems, and specialty fire equipment
• OEM software and diagnostic scan tools

Skilled In:

• Fire pump inspection, testing, and maintenance
• Using shop tools and machinery safely
• Accurate documentation and work order completion

Ability To:

• Diagnose drivetrain, chassis, and system failures
• Interpret diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
• Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
• Follow written and verbal instructions
