Veterans Service Representative (Authorization Quality Review Specialist).

Responsibilities Performs individual quality reviews to determine the authorization quality level of individual VSRs for purposes of individual performance standards on an established monthly schedule. Conducts focused "in-process reviews" for cases to determine the accuracy of claims action taken (for station‑level feedback only). Shares authorization quality trend information with management and with VSRs during training sessions. Reviews products or activities for quality of performance and enters results into the online STAR checklists. Evaluates and identifies deficiencies of all elements of a claim (evidence development, income and dependency issues, award processing and authorization) and provides explanations of errors with comments when needed. Prepares STAR data reports and supplies them to authorized personnel in the regional office. Develops quality assurance processes, emphasizing work procedures and techniques that address unique work conditions and practices. Ensures all program requirements imposed by the Compensation Service, the Pension and Fiduciary Service, and the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims are met or implemented. Requirements You must be a U.S. Citizen. Selectively required to register with the Selective Service (males born after 12/31/1959). A probationary period may be required. Subject to background/security investigation. Selected applicants will complete an online onboarding process. A complete application package (resume, transcripts, etc.) must be submitted. Qualifications Time‑in‑Grade: GS‑11: 52 weeks held at GS‑10. GS‑12: 52 weeks held at GS‑11. Specialized Experience (or Education Substitution): GS‑11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑10 (training, analyst or information‑systems duties in claims management); or A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or Three full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to a Ph.D.; or LL.M (if related). GS‑12: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑11 (same work functions); no educational substitution. Submit SF‑50(s) to support time‑in‑grade claims; if based on education, submit transcripts and, if needed, a foreign equivalency certificate. Additional Information Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Telework: Position may be authorized for telework subject to approval. Physical Requirements: Mostly sedentary; may involve walking, standing, bending and carrying light items.
