Civil Engineer

Our client, a growing Site Development Engineering firm in Monmouth County is seeking a Civil Engineer with 3+ years of experience in private land development and site design to join their team! This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys leading the technical design of commercial, residential, industrial, mixed-use, and institutional development projects from concept through construction documents. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality site designs, collaborating with project managers, clients, architects, and regulatory agencies to develop practical, code-compliant solutions that move projects successfully through the approval process. Responsibilities: Lead the civil/site design for land development projects from conceptual planning through final construction documents. Prepare and review detailed site plans, grading plans, drainage and stormwater management systems, erosion and sediment control plans, and utility layouts. Apply sound engineering judgment to develop practical, code-compliant, and cost-effective design solutions. Coordinate with architects, surveyors, landscape architects, utility providers, and regulatory agencies throughout the design process. Navigate local zoning, land development ordinances, permitting requirements, and agency review comments to support successful project approvals. Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop, modify, and review engineering plans with a high degree of accuracy. Perform engineering calculations related to grading, stormwater management, utilities, and site infrastructure. Review project deliverables for quality, accuracy, and compliance with client requirements and applicable codes. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff and CAD designers. Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal project teams to ensure project objectives, schedules, and design expectations are met. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required. 3+ years of experience in civil/site design and land development. Strong understanding of site grading, stormwater management, utility design, and land development engineering principles. Familiarity with local zoning regulations, permitting processes, and land use requirements. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, but not required.
