Sanitation Operator I

South Valley Almond Company is seeking a Sanitation Operator to join our Food Safety team!

Summary:

Sanitation Operator I is an entry-level position responsible for performing routine cleaning and sanitation of production areas, equipment, and facilities. This role supports food safety, quality, and production readiness by following established sanitation procedures, safety requirements, and work instructions under direct supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of equipment, production areas, and facility infrastructure according to master sanitation schedules and SOPs.
• Follow daily assignments and instructions provided by the Sanitation Lead or Supervisor.
• Use required PPE and follow all safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures.
• Safely use approved cleaning tools, equipment, and chemicals according to training and SDS instructions.
• Clean walkways, platforms, catwalks, stairways, and other designated areas.
• Report sanitation issues, safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or food safety concerns to supervision immediately.
• Complete required sanitation logs and documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
• Work effectively as part of a sanitation team to meet production schedules. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work in wet, cold, and physically demanding environments.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior cleaning, janitorial, manufacturing, or food-processing experience helpful.

Other Information:

• Regular lifting up to ~50 lbs; prolonged standing and walking; frequent hand use to operate machinery and controls; occasional climbing, kneeling, or crawling; good vision and communication for safety and quality; sustained physical work.
• Industrial processing or plant environment; machinery and conveyors; dust, fumes, chemicals; wet or slippery surfaces; temperature fluctuations; loud noise requiring hearing protection; shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays; PPE mandatory.
