Laundry Worker Summa Health System – Akron City Campus, Akron, OH Employment Type PRN Summary To pack, process, and deliver clean linen and collect soiled linen throughout the hospital. Minimum Qualifications Formal Education: Ability to read, write, and perform basic math. Experience and Training: Six (6) months of general work experience. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self‑respect and dignity. Strong problem‑solving skills sufficient to evaluate and resolve complex patient problems. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to gather and present information in an organized manner. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively and efficiently with patients, families, and all members of the multi‑disciplinary team and external organizations. Excellent oral communication skills sufficient to deal effectively with internal and external customers at all levels as well as with people of all cultures. Ability to empathize with patients and families undergoing physical, spiritual, and emotional stress. Good working knowledge of computer applications and systems. Highly functioning in a customer service setting. Demonstrated team, organizational and problem‑solving abilities. Demonstrates sensitivity to diversity. Must complete effective communication and navigation training to facilitate optimal delivery of outstanding customer service. Physical Demands Heavy: Exerts 50‑100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects. Standing and/or walking most of the day. Ability to constantly push or pull loaded wheeled linen bins weighing from 350‑750 pounds and continually lift stacks of linen weighing over 20 pounds. Occasional exposure to blood, feces, odors, etc. Pay $15.96/hr – $19.16/hr (base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials; the range listed is the full base salary range).
