ACNP/PA- CT Surgery (Nocturnist)

Erlanger is seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in a nocturnist role supporting Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology services. This position follows a 7 on / 7 off night shift schedule, offering a consistent rotation and strong work-life balance. This is a primarily cardiology-focused nocturnist position centered on clinical oversight and continuity of care during overnight hours. The provider will review patient lists, including the cardiology floor list, the emergency department cardiology consult list, and the cardiothoracic surgery list and ensure continuity of care. Throughout the shift, the APP is responsible for monitoring patient status, responding to clinical changes, and supporting care decisions across these service lines. The role involves collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the care team to ensure safe and effective management until the day team returns. This position is designed to be supportive with a focus on oversight rather than procedural demand. The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable working independently overnight, has strong clinical judgment, and preferably has experience in cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, or a related acute care setting.

Education Required: Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the American Academy of Physician Assistant. BS/BA required or completion from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program, Family Nurse Practitioner Program with Acute Care certification.

Experience: Preferred: experience in CT Surgery or Critical Care setting.

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee. Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the state of Tennessee. National certification in a specialty (such as ACNP, ANP, CCNS, FNP). Certificate of fitness from the state of Tennessee (as required by specialty). BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward. ACLS certification required for those involved in direct patient care. The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.
