LPN/OR Tech

Position Overview United Health Services (UHS) Chenango Memorial Hospital is actively seeking a skilled LPN/OR Technician to join our surgical team. In this vital role, you will support safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced operating room environment. Job Responsibilities Follows Infection Control policies and demonstrates expertise in surgical scrub technique. Adheres to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra‑operatively. Assists the surgeon during gowning, gloving, draping, and passing of instruments and related items. Anticipates the surgeon’s need for instruments, sutures, and equipment. Maintains an organized operative field by keeping instruments clean and in their proper place. Keeps an accurate count of sponges, tape, needles, dissectors, and instruments. Prepares cases by assembling supplies and equipment per preference cards and identifies conflicts or problems. Provides a safe surgical environment, identifying potential hazards to the surgeon, RN, and assisting RN circulator during preoperative checks. Displays knowledge of potential hazards (equipment, chemical, or gases) within the Operating Room. Utilizes experienced OR staff as a resource and acts as a resource for new OR personnel. Assists in suturing, retracting, suctioning under direction of the surgeon. Handles and identifies specimens per policy. Expedites the effective and efficient turnover of the OR between cases. Takes rotating call duty. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing. Preferred: Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting and prior Operating Room experience. Current New York State Practical Nurse License. CPR Certification required within 3 months of hire. Compensation and Benefits $25.12 - $35.87 per hour, depending on experience. Experienced candidates may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $7,500; early candidates may qualify for up to $12,500 in tuition forgiveness. Benefits are available to those hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours. Work Schedule 40‑hour work week composed of 10‑hour work days with rotating on‑call shifts to provide 24/7 coverage, including weekends and holidays.
