Sodern America, Inc. (SAM) is the newly established U.S. subsidiary of Sodern SA, a France-based leader in optronic and star tracker systems for space and defense applications (including the Auriga, Hydra, and Horus product lines). Headquartered in the Englewood, Colorado aerospace corridor, SAM is standing up U.S. operations, manufacturing, and support dedicated to the U.S. market. This is a founding-team role, you'll help build SAM's U.S. presence and customer relationships from the ground up.

Overview

The Senior Products and Sales Engineer is the primary technical bridge between the US-based sales team, customers, mission manager, and technical teams. You will serve as Sodern-America's product expert, possessing detailed knowledge of the full suite of Sodern product offerings. You will provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support, leveraging your deep expertise in star trackers and spacecraft attitude systems to connect our customers with the Sodern products that best align with their missions' needs.

Core Responsibilities

Pre-Sales Support:

• Collaborate with Director of Business Development to build and deliver technical presentations and demonstrations of star tracker products
• Conduct feasibility studies (mainly compliance matrix on proposal responses), performance simulations, and system analyses to meet customer requirements
• Support proposals and bids by providing technical input and creating technical documentation
• Engage with customers to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions

Post-Sales Support:

• Provide on-site or remote technical support for system integration, installation, and validation
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by customers
• Train customers on product usage, software tools, and operational procedures
• Collect and report customer feedback to drive product improvements

Additional Responsibilities:

• Represent Sodern at technical events, trade shows, and webinars
• Contribute to internal technical documentation and training materials

What You Bring

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in GNC, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (or related field)
• 5+ years of experience in technical support, application engineering, and customer-facing engineering roles in a high-tech environment (aerospace, defense, or instrumentation preferred)
• Strong understanding of spacecraft attitude control systems, star trackers, and optical sensors
• Proficiency in technical modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, etc.)
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred skills:

• Master’s degree in relevant field can be substituted for years’ experience
• Familiarity with U.S. aerospace standards
• Experience with C++ or other programming languages for embedded systems
• Experience with Customer Relationship Management software platforms.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20–30% of time)

Additional Information

Salary range and benefits: $120k - $155k. The salary range represents the low and high end of the Sodern America, Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, knowledge, and ability as applicable to the role.
