\nJob Summary\n
\n· Reports directly to the Medical Director.\n
\n· Educate patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and their families.\n
\n· Determine which referrals are required based upon examination and patient needs.\n
\n· Determine level of urgency of follow-up referral consultation appointments.\n
\n· Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of healthcare.\n
\n· Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.\n
\n· Order studies, tests and ancillary services.\n
\n· Documents all services in patient medical record.\n
\n· Completes all office visit notes, before the beginning of the following day from the day of the visit.\n
\n· Reviews, makes medical judgments and signs all consult notes, laboratory, diagnostic, ancillary, Pharmacy, Health Risk Assessment, Home Health, Durable Medical Equipment data/requests before the beginning of the following day, from the day of which the request was placed in the clinician’s queue.\n
\n· Returns all patient telephone calls by the end of the day on which the call was made.\n
\n· Reviews on a regular basis cases that require ongoing medical attention with MCCI Case Management/Acute Care Program.\n
\n· Participates in quality improvement management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by MCCI or clinical requirements.\n
\n· Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment and education issues.\n
\n· Oversees mid level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff.\n
\n· Assists in resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients.\n
\n· Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.\n
\n· Responsible for application of appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10) to individual patient health records. Knowledge of national, state and payer specific regulations and policies pertaining to coding reimbursement.\n
\n· Initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and completes appropriate paperwork.\n
\n· Recognizes and completes age and disease specific measures/testing of patients as required by NCQA/HEDIS.\n
\n· Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.\n
\n· Participates in patient retention and marketing activities as required.\n
\n
\nII. Common Job Skills\n
\n· Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.\n
\n· Typing and computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize EMR.\n
\n· Performs in a tactful and professional manner.\n
\n
\nIII. Licensure/Certifications\n
\n· Degree in Internal Medicine/Family Practice from and accredited school and licensed to practice in the State of Georgia.\n
\n· Practice experience in outpatient setting with HMO or managed care is helpful.\n
\n· Board certified or eligible in primary care specialty is required.\n
\n· Current DEA and DPS Certification of Registration.\n
\n· Minimum of (2) two years of direct work experience.\n
