Salus Sanctuary is a growing outpatient behavioral health center in Scottsdale, Arizona, providing individualized, evidence-based care for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, stress, burnout, substance use, and co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns.

Our vision is to provide high-quality behavioral healthcare that is clinically structured while still feeling personal, approachable, and individualized to each client.

As we build and expand our services, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Director / Lead Therapist to help establish and lead our clinical program while also providing direct patient care.

This is a hands-on clinical leadership position for someone who enjoys working directly with clients and wants the opportunity to help shape a growing behavioral health practice from the ground up.

Position Overview

The Clinical Director / Lead Therapist will provide clinical oversight for Salus Sanctuary's outpatient behavioral health services while maintaining an active clinical role.

The position will begin as a part-time, 1099 independent contractor role for an initial six-month term, with hours based on patient census and program needs.

As Salus grows its patient census, programs, and clinical team, this position has the potential to transition into a full-time Clinical Director role with expanded leadership responsibilities.

We are looking for someone who can balance clinical leadership with direct care and is comfortable helping build strong clinical systems during an organization's early stages.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and oversight of Salus Sanctuary's outpatient behavioral health services
• Provide direct clinical care, including individual and group therapy
• Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments and support appropriate level-of-care determinations
• Develop, review, and oversee individualized treatment plans
• Facilitate Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) groups and other therapeutic programming
• Facilitate or assist in developing psychoeducational groups and classes
• Monitor client progress and coordinate adjustments to treatment when clinically appropriate
• Review clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
• Provide clinical guidance, case consultation, and support to members of the treatment team
• Collaborate with psychiatric providers and other healthcare professionals involved in client care
• Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing review of clinical policies, procedures, workflows, and programming
• Support quality management, clinical compliance, chart review, and preparation for regulatory reviews
• Help develop group curricula, treatment approaches, and new clinical services as the practice expands
• Help establish and maintain a safe, ethical, compassionate, and patient-centered clinical culture
• Participate in the continued development and growth of Salus Sanctuary's clinical programs

Qualifications

Required

• Current, active Arizona license as an independently licensed behavioral health professional whose scope of practice permits treatment of mental health conditions beyond substance use disorders alone, such as:
• LCSW
• LPC
• LMFT
• Licensed Psychologist
• Other qualifying independently licensed Arizona behavioral health professional with an appropriate scope of practice
• Professional experience working in an outpatient behavioral health treatment setting
• Experience providing treatment to adults with mental health and behavioral health concerns
• Experience conducting clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, and maintaining high-quality clinical documentation
• Experience providing individual and/or group therapy
• Strong understanding of behavioral health ethics, confidentiality, documentation, and clinical standards
• Comfortable providing both clinical leadership and direct patient care
• Ability to work collaboratively in a growing outpatient treatment environment
• Ability to work on-site in Scottsdale, Arizona

Strongly Preferred

• Experience working in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), or other structured outpatient behavioral health program
• Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions
• Experience treating adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, stress-related conditions, burnout, and other behavioral health concerns
• Experience treating substance use disorders and addiction
• Experience facilitating process groups, psychoeducational groups/classes, or other structured therapeutic groups
• Experience developing group curricula or behavioral health programming
• Previous experience as a Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, Lead Therapist, or similar clinical leadership role
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
• Familiarity with Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) behavioral health requirements
• Experience with clinical quality assurance, chart review, compliance, or program development
• Experience helping develop, launch, or grow an outpatient behavioral health program is a plus

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who understands the day-to-day realities of an outpatient behavioral health program and is comfortable being hands-on during our initial growth phase.

The ideal candidate is not only an experienced clinician, but also someone who understands how strong clinical programs operate—from assessments and treatment planning to groups, documentation, compliance, care coordination, and clinical oversight.

Salus Sanctuary is not an addiction-treatment-only practice. While substance use and co-occurring treatment are part of our clinical services, our broader focus includes mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, stress, burnout, and other emotional and behavioral health concerns.

Schedule & Position Structure

• Part-time, 1099 independent contractor
• Initial six-month contract
• Primarily on-site in Scottsdale, Arizona
• Initial hours based on patient census, programming, and clinical needs
• Some scheduling flexibility may be available
• Opportunity for increased hours as patient census grows
• Potential to transition into a full-time Clinical Director position following the initial contract period based on organizational growth, performance, and mutual fit
