ChristianaCareis currently seeking a Part Time 24 weekly hours CNA2/PCT2 on the behavioral health unit (U4N) to help promote the safety and well-being of the patients/staff on the unit throughout the day. PCT/CNA's are primarily responsible for Q15 minute safety checks on all patients, meal monitoring for 3 meals a day and 2 snacks, belonging checks, small group activities, and clerical tasks as needed. Assist patients with daily living activities when needed. Display compassion, empathy, and exceptional communication and relationship building skills to individuals in need of treatment to help promote physical well-being, psychological and emotional well-being for all mental health and behavior diagnosis. 1 Yr. of Acute Setting of Behavioral Health Preferred Resume is required and Cover letter strongly recommended Must be certified in BLS and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) to help deescalate behavioral situations and assist with direct 1:1s when ordered by physician. This is a 12-bed unit for adults, ratio is 12:1 for PCT. Part Time Benefited: Eve/Mid 12-hour shifts are 1900-730am. Every other weekend and rotating holidays. Total of 24 hours weekly/48 bi-weekly. The CNA / PCT II position requires the execution of clerical duties to help support the nursing staff and patients. CNA license not required for this role. Education and experience requirements: High school graduate or equivalent AND one or more of the below qualifications: Previous patient care experience including taking vital signs. Nursing student who has successfully completed clinical hours or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. Licensed CNA's will be required to perform provision of nursing assistant care within scope of practice including IV insertions. Acceptance into a Christiana Care approved Patient Care Technician training program. 2 years clerical or related experience preferred. Key Responsibilities: Performs assigned nursing duties for the comfort and well-being of patients. Performs and accurately records vital signs, Accu-checks, bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobilizing patients. Performs successful finger sticks on patients, defined procedures on point of care instrumentation and EKGs. Following established policies and procedures, additional duties may include phlebotomy venipuncture. Responds with promptness, compassion, and interest to needs of patients. Demonstrates proficiency using required computer skills to document in the electronic medical record. Performs Unit Clerk duties such as, answering phones, entering charges, calling provider consults, setting up patient transportation, assisting staff with clerical needs and audits and coordinates maintenance of unit supplies. Responds to patient crisis and initiates interventions within the scope of responsibilities and notifies RN. Scope, purpose, and frequency of contacts: Daily contact with patients, family members, visitors, employees, medical staff, volunteers, and students. Direction/supervision of others: None Direction/supervision received: Nurse Manager. Assistant Nurse Manager. Receives direction from RN. Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements: Knowledge of basic nursing care provided for specific patient population of unit. Knowledge of department standards, selected procedures, nursing practice guidelines and procedures. Ability to acquire information to identify patient needs and to deliver care as needed. Ability to work quickly and thoroughly. Ability to recognize changes in patient status, take appropriate action and advise RN Ability to perform basic math skills. Ability to use appropriate safety measures for patients, employees and self. Ability to follow universal precautions at all times. Ability to exercise judgment, tact and diplomacy. Ability to respond to patient crisis situations under the direction of the RN, following ChristianaCare protocol. Ability to show strength in basic computer skills. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: BLS Certification required. Physical demands: Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle, stoop, climb as per unit based Physical Demand Checklist. Working conditions: Frequent exposure to biological elements with occasional exposure to chemical and environmental elements, as per unit based Physical Demands Checklist. Hourly Pay Range: $19.10 - $27.69This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
