Nurse Practitioner - Quick Care 24/7

Position Summary University Medical Center (UMC), an academic medical center in Southern Nevada, is an anchor hospital of the Las Vegas Medical District, offering Nevada’s highest level of care to promote successful medical outcomes for patients. The Clinical Nurse Practitioner (CNP) will assess, diagnose, and treat patients, obtain patient health histories, perform physical examinations, prescribe laboratory tests and medication, educate patients and families, and provide technical expertise to other nurses. Job Requirements Education/Experience – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and two (2) years of related clinical nursing experience. Licensing/Certification – Valid State of Nevada License to Practice as a Registered Nurse; State of Nevada License to Practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse; State of Nevada Pharmacy Board License to Prescribe Medications; DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association. Knowledge – Anatomy and physiology; chemistry; microbiology; age‑appropriate growth and development; pathophysiology and disease processes; current standards of medical and health care; limitations of the scope of practice; diagnostic tools; pharmacology; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures; age‑specific patient care practices. Skills – Diagnosing patient conditions and interpreting findings from examinations and diagnostic tests; performing complete physical examinations; taking medical histories; documenting patient chart information; oral communication with patients to obtain information and convey health information; communicating effectively with a diverse patient population; using diagnostic tools; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel involved in duties. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions – Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment; stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods; vision to read instruments and printed materials; hearing and speech to communicate effectively; strength and agility to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
