You can see some of our favorite projects here.Start your journey with OBE and help us build the future.What You'll Get to DoThe Quality Control Specialist is focused on process observations, analysis, audits & inspections of fabricated metal building products (doors, frames, skylights, curtainwall), & reports to the Plant Manager. This role is perfect for a self-starter with strong attention to detail who's comfortable owning issues end-to-end. As a vital member of the Quality Department, this is an opportunity to build a career with an industry leader.Job responsibilities include:Own Material Discrepancy Report (MDR) investigation & resolution. Serve as the dedicated point person driving root-cause analysis & corrective action to closure on customer complaints, partnering directly with operators & supervisorsMonitor daily processes & material while conducting audits of specified quality checksAssist with addressing reported internal quality issuesGather, enter & analyze process data to create reports that facilitate improvementAnalyze & assist with problem solving, root cause analysis & corrective actions; participate in implementation of corrective actions with process ownersServe as the calm, credible go-to for accept / rework / reject decisions on nonconforming material on the shop floorHelp modernize the plant's quality inspection documentationFacilitate & coordinate tracking and follow-up on any rejected order, discrepancy, MDR, or complaintPartner informally with the metal-processing side's Quality Specialist to share best practices across the campusWhat We Are Looking ForExcellent written & oral communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision & maintain quality standardsCapable of working under pressure, especially while addressing customer complaints/MDRsAbility to use standard hand measurement devices (calipers, micrometers, square & protractor), with the ability & willingness to learn other process-specific measurement instrumentsAbility to read die and/or engineering drawings, blueprints, tolerances & specificationsStrong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, with general comfort in data entry & analysisCommitment to working safely & supporting the facility's safety effortsMust be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds occasionallyComfortable being the point person on material inspection sign-off decisionsBasic process knowledge of manufacturing operations related to metal processing and/or fabricationPrior experience with Epicor, SAP, or similar ERP/quality systemsDefect-tracking system experiencePrior blueprint-reading experience specific to building products, doors/frames, curtainwall, or glazingWhat OBE Offers YouBenefits that benefit you – industry competitive benefits at the lowest cost to the employeeWork-life balance – PTO and holidays, including floating holidays you can chooseCompensation that rewards your hard work – A pay-for-performance culture with potential for annual raises and bonusesTraining – We will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed
