Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 4x12s, 48 hours/week; optional 36 hours/week Experience: Minimum 24 months of Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience in a hospital or medical center setting required. Experience in neurology/neurosurgery care and orthopedic care required. Trauma care experience highly preferred. License: Active Iowa or compact/multistate license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA) required. NIHSS preferred. Must-Have: - Experience with heparin, PCA, and 3% sodium/Na. - Proficiency in telemetry and specialty equipment such as chest tubes and airvo preferred. - EKG/strip reading and telemetry experience required. - De-escalation certification preferred. Description: We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit. This position will involve providing care for patients with heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, and orthopedic conditions. The nurse-to-patient ratio will be approximately 1:5 to 1:6. Candidates will be required to float across multiple campuses. It is mandatory to work during 1-2 of the three upcoming Summer holidays, unless the unit is closed. We require candidates to have completed at least one travel assignment in the previous 12 months. A skills checklist specific to the discipline is required. Professional references from within the last 24 months are preferred. Candidates must provide documentation of an active Iowa or compact/multistate license at the time of application.
