FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

We are currently offering up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus for Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician new hires. $2,500 is payable at hire, and the remaining $2,500 is payable after 90 days of employment. Job Title: Field Service Technician Shift: 1st Starting Compensation Range: $26.88 - $39.07 per hour What You Will Do: Apply expert level troubleshooting techniques and determine proper repair procedures on all assigned work orders Service, diagnose and repair/rebuild all engine/components regardless of model/maker of equipment, including electrical, computers, and monitors at customers' jobsite Disassemble, inspect and determine parts needed. Reassemble to factory specifications Interact with customers and answer repair-related questions as required. Refer non-repair related questions to supervisor Perform heavy electrical and computer repairs Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins Inspect components removed from machines to determine their reusability Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate and complete service reports, and other necessary reports and forms Clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed in a timely manner Maintain work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment Perform various other duties as assigned What We're Looking For: Minimum of four years' experience repairing heavy construction equipment preferred Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing expert level mechanical repairs High school diploma or GED required Thorough knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical and other related components to troubleshoot and analyze unique and high level problems/issues quickly and improvise using logic and critical thinking skills to make needed repairs Excellent mechanical aptitude Ability to repair Caterpillar and competitive components and machines Excellent driving record and the ability to obtain a CDL Ability to become DOT certified with DOT Medical Card Willingness to work any shift and overtime as needed to meet business and customer demands Strong communication with excellent oral and written communication skills Self-direction and well organized Proficient use of technical software, databases and manuals What Success Looks Like In This Role: Demonstrating ability to learn and apply new knowledge Working independently and part of a team Prioritizing workload while providing excellent customer serviceInteracting with customers on a professional level Performing well in a fast-paced work environment Working in coordination with team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives Promoting a positive customer experience Upholding the Core Values of Integrity, Commitment, Excellence and Teamwork by embracing The Carter Way Physical Requirements: Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear Frequently required to sit Regularly lift and/or more up to 70 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Competitive Compensation and Benefits: Health, dental and vision insurance Paid time off 401(k), $0.75 to $1.25 match up to 6% Life and disability insurance In-house training instructors/programs Employee referral bonus program Tool allowances and tool loans Discounts on cellular phone service, computers, and vehicles Opportunities for overtime Shift differential (if applicable) You’ll gain access to real learning, real advancement, and a real future in a company that’s reshaping what it means to lead in our industry.
