Software Engineer II, Android

Responsibilities

Implement Android features that improve Crunchyroll’s subscription, add-on, and streaming experiences. Own feature development with emphasis on code quality, performance, scalability, and user experience. Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, and Program Management on technical solutions. Participate in code reviews, technical planning, on-call support, and operational excellence initiatives. Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, reliability issues, and long-term engineering toil. Contribute to maintainable Android architecture and improved development efficiency.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience developing Android applications using Kotlin. Hands-on experience building production applications with Jetpack libraries such as Compose. Working knowledge of testing frameworks such as Espresso and unit, integration, and end-to-end testing. Familiarity with Android architecture patterns and maintainable, scalable codebases. Experience contributing to consumer-facing mobile applications at scale; multimedia or streaming experience is preferred. Ability to debug complex issues and navigate large, modular codebases using established engineering practices. Strong understanding of Git workflows and familiarity with modern CI/CD practices. Experience working in cross-functional Agile teams and participating in on-call rotations. Experience using agentic tools to improve development efficiency.
