Construction Safety Officer

Job description:

• Develop, implement, and maintain Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs).
• Perform routine job site safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Lead pre-task planning meetings, toolbox talks, and daily safety briefings.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and develop corrective action plans.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and client-specific safety requirements.
• Coordinate employee safety orientations and ongoing safety training.
• Maintain safety documentation, reports, inspection records, and compliance metrics.
• Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field crews to foster a culture of safety and accountability.

Qualifications:

• 13 years of construction safety experience in commercial and/or industrial projects.
• Mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing construction experience preferred.
• Experience developing Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs).
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety reporting software.
• Ability to work effectively with field personnel and project management teams.
• Preferred Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction (OSHA 510 or OSHA 500 preferred), First Aid/CPR Certification, CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) or other construction safety certifications are a plus.
• Preferred Industry Background: Commercial Construction, Industrial Construction, Mechanical Construction, HVAC, Plumbing, Design-Build Contractors, MEP Contractors.
