Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: One year of professional nursing experience preferred. License: Current licensure in the state of employment. Certifications: A valid driver's license required. Must-Have: Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing. Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. Responsibilities include executing licensed independent provider’s orders, dispensing and administering medications, and assisting licensed independent providers in examinations and treatment of patients. Applies nursing and supervisory techniques required in the care, treatment, and referrals. Performs all technical and clinical procedures within the scope of education and licensure. Attends sick call with the physician to assess patients. Prepares a list of patients to be examined and prepares the examining room and equipment. Operates pill call, dispenses medication, and documents as required by applicable policies and procedures. Calls the licensed independent providers for medication and treatment orders and other emergencies. Examines and assesses new patients with illnesses or injuries. Refers patients to the emergency room or other appropriate healthcare facility as required by their condition. Performs emergency procedures as needed and notifies licensed independent providers. Monitors inpatient hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate. Provides guidance and supervision to nursing staff. Maintains a good working relationship with facility and outside provider agencies. Utilizes established policies and procedures in decision-making while using sound independent judgment. Regularly evaluates the provision of medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of services. Maintains the security and confidentiality of all medical records. Assists with the review of medical files to ensure provided services are documented. Monitors potential catastrophic illnesses. Audits pharmacy use for adherence to formulary as directed. Complies with applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances. Observes and records patient behavior. Inspects the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband. Provides health counseling and education on individual or group basis. Assists with the preparation and maintenance of various standard records, reports, and logs. Reads, analyzes, comprehends, and interprets medical and technical procedures, governmental regulations, and documents. Processes and responds to lawsuits and attends court hearings when necessary. Facilitates accreditation of the medical program by providing efficient and approved medical services. Prepares and disseminates safety and accident reports as required and takes appropriate action in case of serious incidents.
