About the Position

Shouldice Industrial Manufacturers and Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated HVAC Division Project Manager to oversee commercial and industrial HVAC projects from estimating and preconstruction through project completion and closeout.

This position requires someone who can see the big picture while still paying attention to the details that keep a project profitable and on schedule. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with customers, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and internal departments and understands that successful project management means balancing safety, quality, schedule, manpower, and cost.

The HVAC Project Manager will be responsible for managing multiple projects while serving as the primary point of contact between the customer, field supervision, and the Shouldice team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and industrial HVAC projects from award through final completion and closeout.
• Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and other project documents.
• Develop project budgets, schedules, manpower requirements, procurement plans, and overall project execution strategies.
• Monitor project costs, labor productivity, committed costs, billings, and overall job profitability.
• Work closely with field supervisors and foremen to coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and project priorities.
• Conduct project turnover meetings and ensure field personnel have the information necessary to successfully execute the work.
• Manage project schedules and coordinate work with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and other trades.
• Prepare, review, and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements.
• Identify changes in project scope and ensure additional work is properly documented, priced, submitted, and approved.
• Procure HVAC equipment, materials, and subcontracted services while monitoring lead times and delivery schedules.
• Review vendor and subcontractor proposals for scope, pricing, and compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate equipment start-up, testing, commissioning, punch-list completion, and project closeout.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and communication throughout the life of each project.
• Review project performance regularly and take corrective action when cost, schedule, or productivity concerns arise.
• Prepare and participate in project progress meetings with customers, contractors, and internal personnel.
• Assist with project billing, cost projections, forecasting, and work-in-progress reporting.
• Support estimating and preconstruction activities as needed, including scope review, takeoffs, vendor pricing, and project planning.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, union representatives, and industry partners.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience

• Previous project management experience in commercial or industrial HVAC construction .
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, equipment, installation methods, and construction sequencing.
• Experience managing projects involving equipment such as:
• • Rooftop units
  • Air-handling units
  • Chillers
  • Boilers
  • Cooling towers
  • Pumps
  • Hydronic systems
  • Process and mechanical piping
  • Ductwork and ventilation systems
  • Building controls and related mechanical systems
• Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Knowledge of project estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, change-order management, and cost control.
• Experience working in commercial, manufacturing, institutional, municipal, or industrial environments is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with union construction trades is a plus.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable learning construction management, estimating, scheduling, and accounting software.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.

The right person will be equally comfortable discussing project costs in the office, reviewing drawings with an engineer, coordinating equipment with a vendor, or walking a jobsite with the field team.
