Veterinary Assistant Dermatology

Job Title

Great Lakes Veterinary Specialists is seeking a talented Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT to join our growing Dermatology Team!

Are you looking to take your patient care and expertise to the next level? Are you an experienced RVT wanting to expand your knowledge and skillset while working with a variety of cases?

Potential Schedule

Full time, varies, some weekend rotation.

Compensation

$16 - $21 /hr is based on skill set, and experience

Dermatology Veterinary Assistant Duties

• Assist with allergy testing, immunotherapy preparation, and ongoing allergy treatment programs
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in the hospital information system
• Collecting patient histories & thorough physical exams
• Ensure proper inventory management of medications, medical supplies, laboratory materials, and dermatology-specific products
• Educate pet owners on prescribed treatment plans, medication administration, bathing protocols, allergy management, and follow-up care
• Working collaboratively with team members of all hospital services
• Providing compassionate care, and comfort for all patients
• Perform laboratory procedures as directed and maintain accurate records of test results
• Safely restrain and handle animals during examinations, diagnostic testing, and treatments
• Prepare examination rooms, medical equipment, and supplies for appointments and procedures
• Assist veterinary dermatologists with examinations, diagnostics, and treatment procedures for patients with skin, ear, nail, and allergy-related conditions
