This position is for nights 7pm - 7am.

Duties and Responsibilities

65% of time spent:

• Under the direction of the registered professional nurse. Manages the environment and crisis de-escalation incorporating the attributes of careful nursing. Identifies potential safety hazards Conducts searches and contraband removal. Initiates individual patient interactions (e.g., one-to ones). Coordinate's goal setting with patients and significant others (e.g., families). Participates in multidisciplinary patient staffing (care conference) on a weekly basis. Applies restraints under the direction of a licensed professional Transports patients within the hospital as needed. Floats to all units as needed to provide observations for all behavioral health patients. Assure the safety of the patient and the environment Provides 1:1 support for high acuity patients
• Provides direct patient care as required.

25% of time spent:

• Facilitates therapeutic groups.

5% of time spent:

• Additional duties and responsibilities Ensures that care is provided for all patients incorporating the attributes of careful nursing. Trustworthy collaboration Health education Perfect skill in fostering safety and comfort Participatory – authoritative management Carries out other duties related to patient care and unit operations as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge: High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Certification in crisis intervention training required. Minimal two (2) years' experience with mentally ill patients preferred.

Skills: Knowledge of crisis prevention techniques and methods. Knowledge of psychiatric illness and manifestations. Knowledge of patient's growth and development needs.

Abilities: Ability to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patients. Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties
