About the Role: The Pool Director for the summer season plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, enjoyment, and overall management of the pool facilities. This position involves overseeing daily operations, including staff management, scheduling, and compliance with health and safety regulations. The Pool Director will also be responsible for developing and implementing engaging programs and activities for pool patrons of all ages. Additionally, this role requires effective communication with staff, patrons, and parents to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment. Ultimately, the Pool Director's leadership will contribute to a positive and memorable summer experience for all visitors. Minimum Qualifications: Current certification in lifeguarding and CPR/AED for professional rescuers. Previous experience in a supervisory role within a recreational or aquatic environment. Strong understanding of pool safety regulations and emergency procedures. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in program development and community engagement. First Aid certification and additional aquatic certifications (e.g., Water Safety Instructor). Responsibilities: Plan and implement swimming lessons, camp swim, open swim. Supervise pool, staff and participants during program day; which includes lessons, Race for Chase, camp swim and open swim. Organize and transport supplies for program daily, including first aid supplies. Evaluate and test camp swimmers and organize them according to their abilities. Manage and supervise daily check in and check out of swimmers. Manage and supervise staff and swimmers. Maintain constant interaction with parents, swimmers and staff. Responsible for maintaining discipline among swimmers and families. Provide direction as needed. Oversee and assist in cleaning and sanitizing pool area. Stay with swimmers and staff until they are picked up at end of the day. Run Lost person drills, back boarding and any other necessary skills weekly with staff. Implement pool safety access in event of inclement/hazardous weather. Turn in and maintain accurate timesheets every Friday afternoon. Reports to Recreation office. Supervise and manage pool staff, including lifeguards and support personnel, ensuring they are trained and adhere to safety protocols. Develop and implement a schedule for pool activities, including swim lessons, recreational events, and safety drills. Monitor pool operations to ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations, conducting regular inspections and maintenance checks. Engage with patrons to promote a positive atmosphere, addressing any concerns or feedback promptly and professionally. Coordinate emergency response procedures and conduct regular safety training sessions for staff. Skills: The required skills for this position include strong leadership and communication abilities, which are essential for managing staff and interacting with patrons effectively. Organizational skills are crucial for scheduling activities and ensuring that all safety protocols are followed. Problem-solving skills will be utilized daily to address any issues that arise, whether they pertain to staff management or patron concerns.
