Physical Therapist

Job Title

Provides clinical patient care by initiating and administering appropriate treatment, progressing patient treatment as appropriate, and carrying a patient load that reflects productivity standards. Evaluates patients accurately, plans appropriate treatment, sets and meets functional goals, and revises and progresses treatment programs as goals are met. Provides instruction to patients and/or family members, as well as other healthcare providers.

Job Responsibilities

Initiate and administer appropriate treatment, progressing patient treatment as necessary.

Evaluate patients accurately.

Plan appropriate treatment and set functional goals.

Revise and progress treatment programs as goals are met.

Maintain appropriate treatment records and complete accurate daily patient charges.

Complete patient records in a timely manner.

Accurately reflect time spent, procedures performed, and equipment used in patient charges.

Maintain technical expertise through continuing education and departmental in-services.

Attend scheduled in-services and departmental meetings.

Provide instruction to patients, family members, and other healthcare providers.

Follow care path guidelines for patient/family education and documentation of home programs.

Assist with daily responsibilities and operations as appropriate.

Schedule and prioritize daily work assignments.

Delegate tasks to RPTA or other support personnel as appropriate.

Assist with observers, volunteers, and students as requested.

Participate in the training of new employees.

Make decisions under changing conditions, based on general instructions from supervisors.

Coordinate activities of others and lead others in the same work performed.

Contribute input on performance evaluations.

Work directly with patients and customers, both internally and externally, via telephone or face-to-face interaction.

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff.

Required Skills & Experience

Zero to six months of related experience.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and families.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Basic computer knowledge for data input and reporting.

Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Effective reasoning ability and adaptability.

Required Education

Graduation from an accredited school of Physical Therapy.

Required Certification & Licensure

Valid State Licensure or Temporary Letter of Authorization to practice Physical Therapy.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
