Branch Manager Trainee

Daikin Comfort Technologies Distribution, Inc. is seeking a professional, skilled individual for the Branch Manager Trainee position in our Branch Operations group. The Branch Manager Trainee will take direction from multiple sources to learn all aspects of the branch operations and Branch Manager position, including shadowing or fulfilling the duties of each role within the branch, up to and including graduation to the role of Branch Manager. Position Responsibilities Help the branch build its sales, including the new business component, by maintaining house accounts through active dealer communication of new product launches, services, supplies, prices, and new product sales or discounts via outbound calls and in‑house counter discussions. Conduct outbound calls of existing and lost customer accounts. Maintain sales programs within the assigned territory by keeping customers informed about available services, supplies, prices, and new products. Provide excellent customer service via walk‑ins, phone calls and e‑mails. Execute all aspects of the sales function, including order processing, purchase orders, payment processing, quotes and delivery dates – ensuring accuracy of information entered to guarantee correct items are ordered. Periodically reach out to customers to determine satisfaction with the organization, products and services. Maintain records and prepare reports on sales activities and manage inventory levels. Expand knowledge of HVAC products and keep current with latest trends within the industry. Learn the roles and responsibilities of all functions and responsibilities within the branch, including CSRs/Inside Sales Representatives, Warehouse Associates, Drivers and Branch Manager. CSR – Counter duties: face‑to‑face interaction with customers, complete transactions using Mincron. Warehouse duties: safely operate a forklift, proper and safe loading/unloading and stacking techniques, filling customer orders – will‑call. Driver duties: delivery process, documentation procedures, DOT regulations and internal safety protocols. Branch Manager duties: learn employee relations, timekeeping, inventory control, asset protection. Work positively with all levels of management and peers to ensure all areas and departments are kept up to speed and functioning as an effective team delivering the highest level of service possible. Ensure branch showroom is adequately stocked, cleaned and organized as well as the warehouse and showroom, and ensure there are no safety hazards. Perform other duties as assigned. Nature & Scope Possesses a broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education. Has no discretion to deviate from established procedures by performing structured work assignments. Work is closely supervised. Problems faced are not typically difficult nor complex. Explains facts, policies and practices related to the job area. Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to learn and demonstrate knowledge of the complete operations of the branch in a period of 8‑12 months and be ready to move into a Branch Manager position when training is complete. Effective and high‑quality customer service/relationship management skills via walk‑ins, phone, and e‑mail. Positive, professional attitude, handling difficult customers with ability to diffuse negative situations. Developing rapport and effective listening skills, patience, poise and tact. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective organizational skills and time‑management skills, including ability to prioritize and multitask. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to establish positive working relationships with internal and external customers and employees. Ability to develop leadership skills, including delegation, performance management and personnel development. Ability to use good judgement and strong work ethics and integrity on the job. Knowledge of HVAC equipment/products is preferred. Ability to assist in the warehouse and operate a forklift as needed in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to understand and follow procedures, work instructions and company policies. Experience 1–3 years customer service, retail or HVAC preferred. Education / Certification Bachelor’s degree in business – preferably in business, sales, HVAC related field or equivalent experience.
