Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

This is a busy 22-bed Telemetry unit primarily caring for patients with diagnoses such as Stroke, Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA), Seizures, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and mixed Medical Telemetry cases.

Qualifications

• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a relevant specialty; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam is required

Job Responsibilities

• Providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes
• Engaging in Bedside Shift Report and focusing on the Patient Experience and HCAHPS core measures, particularly concerning stroke measures

Unit Specifics

• Telemetry Monitors: GE Apex Telemetry boxes with Central Telemetry Monitoring and 2 Monitor Techs available
• Nurses are not required to titrate drips (common drips include Heparin gtt, Amiodarone gtt, Cardizem gtt, and DKA set rate or protocol)
• Unit staffing includes 1-2 Unit Aides for assistance

Shift and Scheduling

• Shifts are 12 hours, typically from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Schedules are created approximately 3 weeks in advance
• Self-scheduling available by seniority, with shift trades permitted
• Weekend requirement: 4 shifts within a 4-week schedule (Saturday/Sunday for days, Friday/Saturday for nights)
• Holiday work included as part of the permanent staff rotation

Additional Information

• No on-call or standby requirements
• Potential for floating to Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Medical/Surgical Departments
• Dress code requires navy scrubs, which are not provided
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 1 shift on the unit
