Job Title: Skilled Construction Laborer
Job Description
The Skilled Construction Laborer supports a wide range of commercial construction activities, with a strong focus on concrete work, EIFS and stucco, and general site operations. You will work hands-on with tools and equipment, assist multiple trades, and help keep projects on schedule while maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized jobsite.
Responsibilities
Perform skilled construction labor tasks including demolition, framing support, concrete work, structural repair, flatwork, site preparation, and material handling.
Perform EIFS and stucco-related tasks as part of exterior finishing work.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely and effectively for concrete, carpentry, and general construction activities.
Assist carpenters, equipment operators, and other trades as needed to support overall project progress.
Read and follow basic plans, measurements, and instructions provided by supervisors and site leadership.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free jobsite by regularly clearing debris, organizing materials, and following housekeeping standards.
Load, unload, and stage materials and equipment to support efficient workflow on the jobsite.
Follow all company and OSHA safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
Support project timelines by completing assigned tasks efficiently, accurately, and with attention to quality.
Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate work, report issues, and ensure tasks are completed as expected.
Work on your hands and knees or in bent-over positions as needed when removing and pouring concrete and performing related tasks.
Adapt to changing jobsite needs and take direction from supervisors while demonstrating a willingness to learn new skills.
Essential Skills
2+ years of construction labor experience preferred, including experience working on hands and knees or bent over while removing and pouring concrete.
Strong understanding of jobsite safety practices and the ability to consistently follow safety protocols.
Experience with common construction tools and equipment, including both hand tools and power tools.
Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining productivity and safety.
Reliable transportation to jobsites in the Madison area.
Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with supervisors and other field employees.
Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing jobsite requirements.
Willingness to learn new skills, take direction, and support multiple trades as needed.
Work Environment
You will work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, supporting commercial construction projects in the Madison area. The core team includes a small group of field laborers, with additional field staff added during the busier summer months, creating a tight-knit and supportive crew environment. Standard hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with start locations varying between the shop and jobsite depending on the project. The dress code consists of construction work clothes and steel-toe boots suitable for a physically demanding jobsite. You will regularly use tools such as a tool belt, hammer, tape measure, speed square, and chalk line; power tools will be provided by the employer. Personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility gear, will be supplied to help you work safely and confidently on every project.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
